The Rf Phase System of the Slc ’
نویسندگان
چکیده
The phases of the RF throughout the SLC accelerator complex play an important part not only in the energy and energy spread of the beams at the end of the liiac, but also in the production process of both electrons and positrons. Proper machine operation requires that certain phase relationships be maintained between the RF systems of the electron source, the electron and positron damping rings, the linac, and the positron source. This paper presents an overview of the interplay of the various RF phases throughout the SLC accelerator complex as well as describing various hardware and software inter-connections which have been made to facilitate control of the system as a whole. In addition, a description is given of RF phase monitoring required for system control. Operational experience and future plans are also discussed.

Beam-Based Analysis of Day-Night Performance Variations at the SLC Linac
Diurnal temperature variations in the linac gallery of the Stanford Linear Collider (SLC) can affect the amplitude and phase of the rf used to accelerate the beam. The SLC employs many techniques for stabilization and compensation of these effects, but residual uncorrected changes still affect the quality of the delivered beam. This paper presents methods developed to monitor and investigate th...

متن کاملReducing Energy Spread for Long Bunch Train at SLAC
The normal energy gain of the SLC RF system, using SLED (SLAC Energy Development) cavities, can accelerate only about 150 ns beam pulse within an energy spread of 0.5 % with 1011 particles per pulse. By applying two additional 180o phase inversions for about 20 % of all SLC klystrons, the classical SLED pulse is flattened to achieve an energy spread of 0.5 % over 240 ns which corresponds to 680...
متن کاملBunch Length Measurements in the SLC Damping Ring
The synchrotron light of the SLC damping ring was used to measure the bunch length with a streak camera at different times in the damping cycle. There are bunch length oscillations after injection, different equilibrium length during the cycle due to rf manipulations to avoid microwave instability oscillations, and just before extraction there is a longitudinal phase space rotation (bunch munch...
